The Pacific Islands Oceanic Fisheries Management Project (OFM Project) is scheduled to conclude in October 2010 which has been extended to March 2011 within the parameters of the original grant. Reviews at the midway point of the Project indicated that while there have been significant gains towards the targeted objectives, the complexity and burden of work that remains, particularly for the smaller of the Pacific SIDS is still an issue that requires addressing.
Sanctioned by the Project Regional Steering Committee and the FFC, the work to design a concept for the formulation of a full project for submission to the Global Environment Facility (GEF) is being progressed. FFC70 in 2009 was asked to consider and endorse the concept (Project Information Form - PIF) and the draft of this concept has been revised on the basis of comments received from various stakeholders.
