The Pacific Islands Oceanic Fisheries Management Project (OFM Project) is scheduled to conclude in October 2010 which has been extended to March 2011 within the parameters of the original grant. Reviews at the midway point of the Project indicated that while there have been significant gains towards the targeted objectives, the complexity and burden of work that remains, particularly for the smaller of the Pacific SIDS is still an issue that requires addressing.

Pacific Islands Oceanic Fisheries Management Project (OFM Project)

Pacific Islanders call this region simply “the islands”. International organisations and scientists call it the Western Tropical Pacific Warm Pool Large Marine Ecosystem or the Western and Central Pacific Ocean.

The fourth meeting of the Regional Steering Committee (RSC) for the Pacific Islands Oceanic Fisheries Management Project (OFM Project) was held in Apia, Samoa, 17-18 October 2008.

The following are National Reports by participating countries of the OFMP presented at the fourth meeting of the GEF Pacific Islands Oceanic Fisheries Management Proejct Steering Committee held at Apia, Samoa from 17 - 18 October 2008.

The 4th meeting of the Regional Steering Committee for the Pacific Islands Oceanic Fisheries Management Project will meet at Apia, Samoa from 17 - 18 October 2008. The meeting is scheduled to be held at the Reserve Bank conference facilities at Apia.
