Information & Communications Technology
Submitted by webmaster | 27 / Oct / 2014FFA's Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Team is a part of the Fisheries Operations Division (FOD). The team provides a wide range of ICT and Library services to the Secretariat and to FFA member countries.
FFA Secretariat Services
The team supports about 100 staff based at the Secretariat. Some of the services that are supported include:
- Operation and management of data network (LAN and WAN)
- Operation and management of Secretariat management information systems
- Network storage services
- Printing services
- Videoconferencing and telephony services
- Library services
- Information security
- Conference services
FFA Member Country Services
A unique feature of the ICT Team is the technical support it provides to FFA member countries which accounts for about half of the team's core work. Some of these services include:
- Provision of online access to Monitoring, Control and Surveillance (MCS) tools
- Development of national Information Management Systems (IMS) for Fisheries departments
- Technical support and advice on ICT-related matters
- Operation of VSAT network to complement access to Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) services for members with bandwidth issues
