FFA partners with a select number of recognised tertiary education providers like national or regional universities or fisheries colleges to design career pathways within a discipline of (tuna) fisheries. This initially commences as partnering up on individual courses that when combined result in a program of study eventuating in a formal academic or vocational qualification.

FFA has historical and ongoing partnerships with The University of the South Pacific (USP), University of Wollongong (UoW) Australian National Centre for Ocean Resources and Security (ANCORS), Papua New Guinea’s National Fisheries College (NFC), Vanuatu Maritime College (VMC), Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT), while actively pursuing others.
