Bryan was a remarkable individual— a highly skilled ICT professional who contributed significantly to some of FFA’s milestone achievements, especially in database management. He was the “go-to” person for any ICT-related issue, handling challenges with both skill and passion.
Even in the final days of his illness, Bryan came into the office to resolve a critical issue at our Regional Fisheries Surveillance Centre during an active surveillance operation. This reflected Bryan’s commitment to the work that he loved, and to ensure that our systems ran smoothly for everyone.

Bryan began his journey with FFA in January 2005 as a Data Quality Officer, later transitioning to a Systems Analyst role from 6th January 2006 to 14th February 2011, serving for a total of 5 years and one month. After completing his tenure at FFA, he joined the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) in New Caledonia as a Fisheries IUU Liaison Officer, where he worked from January 2011 to February 2015.
Bryan returned to FFA as a Database Administrator on 28th February 2015 and he continued to hold the position of Database Administrator up to the time of his passing.

Bryan’s contribution to FFA and to the region is immeasurable. He was instrumental in ensuring all FFA databases meet data quality requirements and are functional to support FFA fisheries information management systems.
Bryan was a key developer of the FFA Regional Information Management Facility and the systems that supported the operations of the Regional Fisheries Surveillance Centre. Bryan’s legacy is the FFA Regional Surveillance Picture which continues to support risk based approaches to fisheries compliance.
Beyond his day-to-day responsibilities, Bryan took the lead in updating the team on the latest IT gadgets and emerging technologies, always rallying support to try out innovative tools.
Bryan was known for his soft-spoken character, kindness and supportive nature. He was not only a valued team member but also a mentor to many within the Secretariat. Bryan shared his wealth of knowledge openly, guiding colleagues and encouraging them to grow.
His love for chocolates was well-known, adding a bit of sweetness to every interaction.
He also enjoyed participating in FFA’s organised sports events, proudly representing “Team Orange”. His involvement in these activities reflected his love for both teamwork and community spirit.
Bryan’s warmth, passion, and sense of fun will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Rest in eternal peace our dear friend Bryan. Your legacy lives on with us.
