The Forum Fisheries Committee (FFC) is the governing body of the Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA). It provides policy direction and oversight, and serves as the primary decision-making body on Pacific regional fisheries management and cooperation among FFA Members.
The FFC operates through two governing chambers: FFC Officials and FFC Ministerial.
FFC Officials is represented by senior government officials responsible for fisheries from the 17 Members of FFA. This chamber agrees on FFA’s priorities, annual work programme, and budget.
FFC Ministerial is represented by government Ministers responsible for fisheries from the 17 Members of FFA. It provides higher-level oversight of FFA’s work and sets the Agency’s strategic direction.
Both chambers meet annually. The FFC Officials Meeting is usually held in May, followed by the FFC Ministerial Meeting, which is typically held around July.
The FFA Secretariat, based in Honiara, Solomon Islands, is responsible for implementing the directives and decisions endorsed by the FFC.
Our executive team guides the work of the Secretariat,
supported by high-level advisers in Audit, Legal, Communications, Transformation, Monitoring and Evaluation and Training, and works with Division Directors and staff to develop high-level policy advice for FFC and Members.
The FFA Secretariat is headed by the Director-General and supported by an executive team comprising the Deputy Director-General and four Divisional Directors. The current FFA Director-General is Mr. Noan David Pakop.
