Monitoring, Control and Surveillance

Our information and communications technology (ICT) team supports the Secretariat and our members with ICT and library services.

We provide invaluable ICT support to our members

Half of the ICT team’s work is helping members with:

• online access to monitoring, control and surveillance (MCS) tools
• developing National Management Systems (IMS) for fisheries departments
• technical support and professional advice on ICT matters
• operating the VSAT (a two-way ground station) network to complement access to vessel monitoring system services for members with bandwidth issues.

We underpin FFA’s technical work for the Secretariat

The work we do for FFA staff includes:

• operating and managing data networks and Secretariat management information systems
• managing network storage services
• providing library, printing, video conferencing and telephone services
• keeping information secure (access our Information Security Management System Policy)
• helping with conferences.

Our library’s mission is to develop a specialised marine and fisheries collection

We aim to organise and manage all information, technical reports, trip reports and meeting papers that FFA produces.

We want our collection—specialising in marine and fisheries information—to be available to support our staff and our members’ fisheries divisions.

Our collection comprises FFA publications, meeting papers, technical and trip reports, and audio, video and other reference materials (such as books, journals, magazines) related to fisheries.
