Your unique opportunity

FFA now has a fantastic opportunity for a Compliance Policy Advisor to join our Fisheries Operations Division.

The primary purpose of this role is to further the development of strategic fisheries compliance policies of FFA Members at regional, sub-regional and national level. A particular focus of the position is providing advice support to Members on compliance and Monitoring, Control and Surveillance (MCS) issues in the context of the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC).

Some of your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but not be limited to

  • Advise the Secretariat and Members on emerging issues in fisheries compliance
  • Establish positive working relationships through consultations and advice with fisheries Compliance contacts of member countries and within regional fisheries management organizations.
  • Liaise with the WCPFC Compliance Manager and the Chair of the Technical and Compliance Committee on relevant WCPFC matters.
  • Provide MCS policy and compliance advice and analysis on the implementation aspects of Fisheries Management Plans

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have an excellent understanding of the principles of fisheries operations, with strong leadership skills, policy development and implementation experience in the management of complex multidisciplinary activities.

It is considered essential that the successful candidate holds a Tertiary Degree in marine policy, marine affairs, fisheries science, fisheries management and/or natural resource management or other qualification relevant to the demands of the role.

Benefits on offer

You will receive a competitive salary circa USD$82,867 (tax-free, for citizens of most countries), commensurate with your skills and experience. This is inclusive of COLDA and Location Allowance plus Superannuation. Superannuation at 7.5% of base salary is paid on a six-monthly basis.

We reimburse all reasonable medical, dental, and optical expenses for yourself and your dependents. Insurance coverage is also available for personal accidents, life, medical & repatriation. Education for dependent children is reimbursed at 75% of tuition fees (conditions apply). If your dependent child is studying overseas, paid school travel may be available for you or your child to visit each other once each contract year.

Relocation expenses will be paid, with an establishment grant paid on arrival in Honiara and accommodation assistance also available.

Moreover, you will have access to 6 weeks of annual leave each year, giving you plenty of time to explore this stunning part of the world!
