Your unique opportunity

FFA now has a fantastic opportunity for a Manager Vessel Monitoring Systems to join our Fisheries Operations Division.

Working under the Director of Fisheries Operations, you will manage the operations of the FFA Vessel Monitoring System and the FFA Vessel Register, to effectively utilise the resources available to FFA for this purpose.

The primary purpose of this role Manage the operations of the FFA VMS and the FFA Vessel Register and to effectively utilise the resources available to FFA for this purpose

Identify and implement improvements to the VMS and Vessel Register services made available to FFA members and other clients, including in respect of new technology and the efficiency of the VMS

Your core duties will fall in the following categories-:

  • Provision of effective Policy Advice
  • Strategic Planning
  • Effective Management and Support
  • Build and maintain effective networking relationships

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have an at least five years of demonstrated leadership and management experience in fisheries compliance and/or fishing vessel registration program; managing at least 5 or more staff and proven project and contract management experience.

It is considered essential that the successful candidate holds a Bachelor’s Degree qualification in the area of fisheries, marine affairs, Information management or related fields relevant to the demands of the role.  

Benefits on offer

You will receive a competitive salary circa USD$82,867 (tax-free, for citizens of most countries), commensurate with your skills and experience. This is inclusive of COLDA and Location Allowance plus Superannuation. Superannuation at 7.5% of base salary is paid on a six-monthly basis.

We reimburse all reasonable medical, dental, and optical expenses for yourself and your dependents. Insurance coverage is also available for personal accidents, life, medical & repatriation. Education for dependent children is reimbursed at 75% of tuition fees (conditions apply). If your dependent child is studying overseas, paid school travel may be available for you or your child to visit each other once each contract year.

Relocation expenses will be paid, with an establishment grant paid on arrival in Honiara and accommodation assistance also available.

Moreover, you will have access to 6 weeks of annual leave each year, giving you plenty of time to explore this stunning part of the world!

You will be working out of Honiara, the capital of the Solomon Islands, with opportunities to travel to all FFA 17-member nations and make a real difference in the Pacific.
