Monitoring, Control and Surveillance

MCS Policy support to Members

Policy

Our Policy service provides high level regional and national MCS policy advice to Members.

Some of the key roles under the policy support include:

  • Provide Members with high level MCS policy advice to support national fisheries management objectives
  • Providing advice for the strategic utilization of regional MCS resources used to combat illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing
  • Provide technical and policy support to assist FFA Members to review, develop, update and implement national MCS Plans, National Plan of Actions (NPOAs) and other MCS related policy documents.
  • Providing recommendations to FFA’s Executive Management on the effective utilization of the Agency’s MCS resources to support core Regional Monitoring, Control and Surveillance Strategy (RMCSS) implementation actions/activities at the FFA Secretariat and within FFA Members;
  • Promoting/participating in capacity building at national and regional levels to improve MCS monitoring and date integration analysis.
  • Coordinating Fisheries Operations’ implementation of the FFA Strategic Plan and the FFA Business Plan.
