Tuna Industry and Trade Dynamics and the Western and Central Pacific Ocean
This report reviews current industry and trade dynamics in the Western and Central Pacific Ocean (WCPO) tuna fishery. It analyses the ‘big four’ tuna industry players, prominent Chinese and Philippines firms and Pacific-led initiatives involved in the shelf stable tuna sector, as well as recent ESG (environment, social and governance) and trade trends.
It focuses on the period between 2022-2025 with an aim to draw out insights that inform PIC efforts to enhance returns from their fisheries.
